Mike Ferner

A portion of the Arlington Midwest memorial set up on the campus of the University of Toledo, March 2005, by the Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition. The small, wooden tombstones, painted white, are displayed alphabetically by state, with the name, age, rank, branch of service, and date of death of a U.S. soldier killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The idea came from Veterans For Peace chapters in southern California, which do a similar display, but with crosses, on the Santa Barbara beach every Sunday.
