Kicking up Dust

Kicking up Dust

Standing in the hatch of an APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) at the end of a seven hour patrol that began at 4:00 am, I took this photo of a Bradley Fighting Vehicle following the APC; another Bradley was in front of the APC. I took the picture to show how much dust these tracked vehicles kick up on dirt roads. In the right foreground you can barely see a pickup and a sedan. At the end of the patrol we looked like coal miners at the end of a shift. Soldiers put up with those conditions when they had “duty” every couple days, for as long as their tour lasted in Iraq. The villagers put up with it every day for as long as the occupation lasts.
